Wall Street Journal Sources Bekins’ Buyer

Our buyer, Tommy Ziegler, was quoted in The Wall Street Journal. Reporters for America’s business journal of record, Sara Murray and Kris Maher, recently contacted Mr. Ziegler for his viewpoints on inflation trends and consumer spending (see excerpt below).

 Flat Prices Bode Well for Economy

  Tommy Ziegler, a salesman and buyer for Bekins
   Inc., an appliance retailer in Grand Haven, Mich.,
   has been cutting prices to augment state-funded
   energy rebates in hopes of stimulating sales.

   On a top-selling dishwasher, for instance, he
   recently cut the price to $699 from $750, and he
   is offering to match a $25 rebate from the state
   and to knock $75 off the cost of installation.
   “I try to highlight one or two products in each
   category just to give that customer the extra
   incentive to say, ‘We’ve been holding off to buy—
   but let’s do it,’ ” said Mr. Ziegler.
